62' Strat history....
Purchased late 70 or early 71 at Lawrence music store - $125 - $150
not a 62' case - black case with
this type of insignia indicates 64-67
finish is none (linseed oil)...sunburst was
original color, then black, then white,
then bare wood... :(
bridge stamps "Fender Pat. Pend."
consistent with 62'
original neck was dark wood fret
with smaller head. This is the head of a 71
solid maple neck.
neck purchased at Leavenworth
music store located on 4th St. It was required(?)
that original neck be traded with purchase
of new...the hardware is original and consistent with 62'...
neck mfg date stamp...22 May 71 B is standard size...note: day 2 is different font than other stamp font
neck plate serial number is consistent with 62'
metal back plate to pick guard is consistent with 62' -note Mell's name - I assume Mell worked at Fender
electronics too are consistent with 62'
